Editor Picks: A Lasting Kiss

February 9, 2014

A Lasting Kiss

Excited about that perfect kiss but afraid of smearing your lipstick all over him? These four picks are the Editor’s favorite!

1. Lip Tar by OCC- $18 at Sephora
Great thick consistency, lasts for ours and creates a juicy pout!
2. Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable- $8.99 at drugstores
This is their Just Bitten counterpart. This provides an easier, smoother application. The hues are soft and beautiful providing lasting color!
3. Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid- $20 at Sephora
OMG. This is hands-down my favorite lasting lipstick. The pigment is out of this world and it has MAJOR staying power! Amazing!
4. Benefit’s PosieTint- $30 at Ulta/Sephora
The application isn’t as easy as others, but we love the flushed stain it provides for not only lips, but cheeks! We love the fragrance, too!

Beauty Talk: Vichy Cleanser

January 15, 2014

Vichy__38713.1353351402.1280.1280

I’m a product junkie- tried and true; confessed and accepted! I love beauty products and am always seeking the best. I’ve come across an amazing cleanser at Ulta that I have completely fallen in love with- Purete Thermale 3-in-1 Cleanser by Vichy.

Vichy is a region in France known for its healing thermal waters dating back to the 1600s. Royalty would often visit for dermatological treatments becoming a destination for the elite. In 1903, Coco Chanel was a “water girl” for Vichy before she ventured into the fashion world. The Vichy Brand of 80 years have encompassed the essence of this region creating state-of-the-art skincare.

Purete Thermale 3-in-1 cleanser is a cleansing milk, toner and makeup remover all in one. Free of parabens, dyes and harsh sulfates, this cleanser is perfect for all skin types-even sensitive. Although the directions state you can just apply with a cotton ball and no rinsing is needed, I can’t stand the thought of leaving anything on my skin. Cleansing is the art of rinsing away impurities, right? So I apply, massage in and rinse.

This cleanser is amazing! It really does remove even the hardest waterproof mascara and lip-stains while leaving my skin soft, clean and supple (thanks to the generous amount of vitamins and thermal water).  I highly recommend this product.

If $19.50 sounds costly for a cleanser, just think about this: you don’t need to buy makeup remover or toner. So, in reality, this cleanser is a smart choice for everyone. You won’t be disappointed!

Do Good: Warby Parker

January 13, 2014

glasses1

We believe that giving back to others is an important element in the success and happiness of your life. While online shopping for new eye glasses, I came across Warby Parker. I was first drawn to their style and look. However, as I perused their site, I came across a section entitled “Do Good” and program, “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair.”

According to its site, “almost one billion people don’t have access to glasses. That means that 15% of the world’s population is unable to effectively learn or work because they can’t see clearly.” I was astonished by the sheer number of individuals who do not have access to glasses. How many times do we take this for granted?

Glasses are one of the most effective poverty alleviation tools in the world. They can increase one’s productivity by 20%. That’s the equivalent of creating an extra day’s work each week.

Warby Parker donates funding or one new pair of glasses for every one that is purchased. “Glasses are one of the most effective poverty alleviation tools in the world. They can increase one’s productivity by 20%. That’s the equivalent of creating an extra day’s work each week.”

By partnering with various non-profits like VisionSpring, they are able to provide glasses and training to low-income entrepreneurs in developing countries to start their own business of selling glasses. VisionSpring’s model helps create jobs and also provide affordable glasses to those who would otherwise not be able to purchase a pair.

Women like Vicky has had their life transformed and bettered because of VisionSpring's employment.

The next time you are purchasing a pair of glasses, consider Warby Parker and their “Home Try-On.” Choose up to five pairs, have them shipped to your door step, try on, and pick your favorite. I can’t wait to tell you which one I chose.
